Assessment 0bjective 2 -Plan the production of a range of graphic images for a client, to be used on their website

You are now going to plan the graphics you are going to include in your website. These will include sketch plans and supporting notes. These notes should include information such as target audience, purpose/message, size and housestyle.

Housestyle – common elements on your graphics e.g. font size, style, colour, that help create a consistent look to your graphics. Your audience should be able to see your graphics and recognise that they are linked.

1. Produce diagrams of:

• Navigation buttons
• Navigation bars or menus bars (these should incorporate the buttons you design)
• Advertising banner

It is recommended that you take a look at the examples of graphics using the links above before you start your planning. They will help you plan to produce graphics of a higher standard.

When you do this you will need to consider:

• Who is the target audience? (consider age / gender / location of audience / occupation / education level / interest)
• What is the purpose and message? (e.g. inform / simplify / entertain /shock / attract attention / make a point
• What will be the housestyle? (colour scheme / font size & style & text enhancements)
• Size - actual size on the page (percentage) and actual dimensions (pixels or centimetres)

• provide some details about your target audience and purpose .

To achieve a merit you need to:

• produce detailed sketch diagrams for three different types of graphic.
• provide details about your target audience and purpose .
• identify and use a house style for your graphics .
• show some consideration of the file size of the graphics .

To achieve a distinction you need to:

• produce comprehensive details for the three different types of graphics you plan to create, accompanied by detailed sketch diagrams.
• provide details about their target audience and purpose.
• identify and use a house style for your graphics.
• show consideration of the file size of the graphics.

2. To achieve a distinction your plans need to be comprehensive. This means that you could pass on your plans to someone else and they could produce the graphic themselves. You could test this yourself by asking a friend to look at your plans to see what they think. Ask them to complete the peer assessment form to give you some feedback.

3. Before you start creating your graphics you should familiarise yourself with the software you are going to use to create your graphics. Take a look at the tutorials page to get some tips on how to create graphics. It is strongly recommended that you complete A04 before A03 because your buttons can be used in your navigation menu.
